BETA: Drift mod update: Project D2.31, OBS 2.41, D1AS 1.53 UPDATED
=== MORE DETAILS IN THE COMMENTS ===
Ok whilst this isn't all signed and sealed yet so for now should be considered an *UNOFFICIAL MOD* at the moment everyone seems to be missing each other in chat, skype etc so I'm hoping this will help simplify things.
As everyone knows Project D 2.3 has made a big splash on the scene but the fact that it wasn't "All tracks and vehicles" compatible meant PDers couldn't see OBSers, Supras etc on track, even though the servers generally allow nonstandard cars, so once again the scene gets split which is bad for everyone.
The problem is we never really expected to be drifting mixed-mod so the naming of files and such isn't really compatible with each other. As soon as one mod has a "silvia.veh" file any other files with the same name from another mod won't load so you get cars disappearing all over the place.
As it turns out we're in a bit of a unique position at this point in time because currently we have permission from all three major mods (OBS via Maug, D1AS via Hukke and the PD2.4 team via Twisterbest) to produce an update which fixes these issues so we can all drive whatever we like and everyone can see all the cars.
This is that update, and it fixes a number of naming clashes of veh files which resulted in missing vehicles/teams, a few little naming glitches here and there. It also makes Project D 2.3 mixed-mod drifting compatible so PD can see other cars and other cars can see PD.
It also changes the vehicle selection listings so that cars are grouped by mod rather than as a crazy jumble which should make choosing cars as well as debugging mods the easier.
Once tested and everyone's agreed it's ok, any future mod development for these mods will be based on this format.
These updates are currently IN TESTING so may be subject to revision. If you have no idea what this is about then don't install them for now and whatever you do BACK UP your installation first.
The supra mod is not affected because it had no compatibility issues in the first place thanks to early discussions with Adubz about this.
The OD1 server is already set up to use this new format and also supports LD_addons and some others. Once it's tested OD2 will follow. Anyone who has questions please post in comments.
This latest update unfortunately changes so many files that really a full download for each mod is needed otherwise files will get missed. Please delete the previous /gamedata/vehicles/[mod folder] before installing or you will have all sorts of problems.
Thanks everyone who has helped coordinate this - hopefully this works as planned :)
PLEASE NOTE: Installing this will mean you might have problems on unpatched servers hence this is a beta/test. Backup first or better still use a separate install to test with.
PLEASE NOTE: In order to see all the other mods when joining a mixed server, please switch to "All Tracks And Vehicles" mod in player settings.
TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE: We have obtained permission from all the respective authors to produce this update. If you feel you have a claim and have not been consulted then please speak to Maug for OBS, Hukke for D1AS, Twisterbest for PD2.4 or me for LD_addons or in case you can't get hold of one of the others.
Files for the D1AS and OBS, and the onlinedrifting.rfm have been moved to the "drift mods" section since they've now become official releases.
